SMART is set in contemporary London and tells the story of Skull, a failed tech startup entrepreneur, who sets out to find his missing friend Jon Fast. Before he disappeared, Jon believed a smartphone app was trying to kill him.

There’s a current debate among scientists and technologists regarding the existential threat to humanity posed by artificial intelligence and the robots of the future, but of course the technologies we have today are already smart enough to kill us. But it’s more subtle than that, and SMART explores the relationship we have with the tools we make, how we shape them, and the power they have to shape and constrain us in return.
